Little City, OK--Lavinda Tyns said she watched a raging fire destroy her family's shop off hwy 199 in little city. She said she and her husband lost more than his tools.
"He had a $1,600 welder that he had just got and it burned, a dirt bike burnt and a four wheeler" said Tyns.
Tyns said she had 8 family members over at her house located just feel away from the burning shop, she said she feels fortunate they were all able to get out before the flames reached the home.
"It was close enough that I could feel the heat as soon as I walked out the door and the flames were up in the air straight up in the air at that time' said Tyns.
Firefighters said they were able to contain the fire before it burned the majority of the home and say it threatened several structures including a grocery store.
"About ten to twelve structures were in the path of the fire" said Donnie Pruitt
Tri-city Fire Chief.
Firefighters said the fire broke out around 2 p.m. and took about an hour to control. They said the fire could be seen from miles say and that several volunteer crews helped battle the flames.
"We had tri-city out here and Madill, Kingston, and Silo fighting this fire " said Pruitt.
The fire is still under investigation but Tyns said she believes it might have been electrical.
"I bought a new college type refrigerator to put out there to keep cold water while my husband worked and I don't know if that was the cause of it " said Tyns.
Tyns said the shop was not insured but that she is glad she has the things that can't be replaced.
"We have family and we have friends and that's all a person really need to help us get through it" said Tyns.
