JAY, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say a woman who was last seen dropping her children off at school in northeastern Oklahoma has been found dead in a traffic crash.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 37-year-old Krista Summerfield was last seen Tuesday dropping her children off at school in Jay. Authorities say Summerfield had planned to drive to vocational school in Delaware County but she never arrived.
The highway patrol says Summerfield was found dead in her car Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 59, about 5 miles south of Jay. A preliminary report says Summerfield failed to maneuver a curve in the road and drove off the highway. Her car struck a steep embankment and flipped over in a ravine.
Summerfield was pronounced dead at the scene, and the incident remains under investigation.
