New DHS Director to outline department's future

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The director of Oklahoma's Department of Human Services is scheduled to present his vision for the embattled agency's future.

Ed Lake is scheduled to discuss the agency and its future starting at noon Monday at the Oklahoma History Center.

Lake took over as director last year after the retirement of Howard Hendrick. Hendrick retired after a four-year class action lawsuit that was brought against the agency and the deaths of several children in state custody.

Lake says he's been soliciting input from staff across the state since November and plans to explain what will come next as the agency restructures.
