LANGSTON, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say no one was injured in an explosion and fire at a natural gas compressor station in rural Oklahoma.

Guthrie Fire Department Chief Eric Harlow says a worker inside the station was able to escape without injury after the blast Thursday night near Langston, which is about 45 miles north of Oklahoma City.

The compressor station is owned by DCP Midstream.

Harlow says firefighters needed to let the natural gas in the line burn off before they could safely fight the blaze. The fire was extinguished early Friday, several hours after the blast.

The station takes in natural gas from wells and compresses it so the gas can be stored.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
