TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Oral Roberts University junior volleyball player Sara Pope has been named Southland Conference offensive player of the week.

Pope is the first student-athlete to be honored by the SLC this season.

Pope was on fire in her first tournament as a Golden Eagle, earning MVP honors at the TSU Invitational. The Jenks native led ORU to a 3-0 start by averaging 4.62 kills per set at the event at swinging at a .541 clip.

Pope's top performance came in the season-opener against Texas Southern, when she tallied 19 kills on 27 attempts without committing an error in a 3-0 victory.

Pope was a three-time America East Player of the Week last season at the University of Albany, when she earned America East Player of the Year honors.
