NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The University of Oklahoma is preparing to break ground on a $6.5 million training facility for its rowing team.

A ceremony is set at the Norman campus for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The construction site is on the south side of Blankenship Boulevard across from the soccer and rugby fields.

Among those who are to turn the first dirt are Head Rowing Coach Leeanne Crain and senior captain Nikki Furmanek.

The indoor facility will feature a 16-seat "moving water" rowing tank, which is to be used to simulate on-the-water training. The building will also have a workout area, sports medicine and hydrotherapy room and other facilities.
