OKLAHOMA CITY,OK. (AP) - President Obama has nominated a Tulsa attorney to be a federal judge in Oklahoma's northern district.
The White House says John E. Dowdell has been a partner since 1987 at Norman Wohlgemuth Chandler & Dowdell, where he handles complex civil litigation and criminal matters before district and appellate courts.
Since 1999, Dowdell also has served on a pro bono basis as an Adjunct Settlement Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. Before joining his law firm as an associate, Dowdell served as a law clerk for Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge William J. Holloway Jr. from 1981 to 1983.
Dowdell received his law degree in 1981 from the University of Tulsa and his bachelor's degree in 1978 from Wake Forest University.
