OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Attorney General Scott Pruitt says the founder, chairman and CEO of Oklahoma-based energy giant Continental Resources will serve as honorary chairman of his 2014 re-election campaign.
Pruitt announced Monday that Harold Hamm would serve in the position.
Pruitt described Hamm as a "dedicated businessman, visionary, and icon here in Oklahoma."
From a hardscrabble background, Hamm established the company with a single truck in 1967 and grew the company into the key player in the massive Bakken oil play in North Dakota and Montana. Forbes lists Hamm No. 90 on this year's list of world billionaires with a net worth of $11.3 billion.
Pruitt is one of seven Republican statewide elected officials who earned their posts in a GOP-sweep of the 2010 elections who are all up for re-election in 2014.
