OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt has named longtime prosecutor and Assistant Attorney General Tom Bates as his top assistant.
Pruitt announced Tuesday that Bates will replace current First Assistant Attorney General Rob Hudson. Hudson will become a special judge in Logan County on Nov. 1.
Bates most recently served as chief of the Attorney General's Public Protection Unit where he oversaw the Oklahoma Mortgage Settlement Fund, the Do Not Call Registry and was the lead assistant attorney general on all consumer protection litigation.
He worked in private practice for five years before joining the Attorney General's Office in 1999. He has prosecuted and litigated a variety of civil and criminal cases and served as chief of the Attorney General's Multicounty Grand Jury Unit.
