OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - House Speaker T.W. Shannon has named his appointees to four separate advisory panels tasked with overseeing the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
The Lawton Republican announced his appointments on Monday. They include social worker Beverly Coon the panel for children and family issues; Dr. Robert Eskew, who specializes in physical therapy for those with disabilities, to the panel for disability issues; Oklahoma Public Employees Association membership director Haley Blood to the panel for administration; and former lawmaker Forrest Claunch to the panel for aging services.
Oklahoma voters approved a state question in November to abolish the nine-member commission that had governed the agency for decades. Instead, the agency now will be governed by four separate advisory panels that will oversee the four key agency divisions.
