OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma legislators have honored a science teacher from Byng Junior High School for her induction into the National Teachers Hall of Fame.
The state House and Senate on Thursday honored ninth-grade teacher Deborah Cornelison.
Cornelison has been a physics and chemistry teacher since 1988. She is a nationally certified teacher in adolescent and young adulthood science. She has been named the Oklahoma Science Teachers Association Teacher of the Year and has been inducted into the Oklahoma Science and Engineering Fair Hall of Fame. She also was a finalist for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year.
Cornelison is one of five 2013 recipients who will be formally inducted on June 14.
