POCASSET, Okla. (AP) - The Chickasaw Nation has opened the 36,000-square-foot SaltCreek Casino, the Oklahoma-based tribe's first economic endeavor in Grady County.

The casino is about nine miles north of Chickasha and houses more than 550 electronic and six table games. The casino also features a 44-seat restaurant, a full-service bar and a high-end retail store.

Chickasaw Nation Division of Commerce CEO Bill Lance says the gaming casino sits on 190 acres of previously undeveloped land. Improvements included installation of a 155,000-gallon water tank, dedicated turn lanes from Highway 81 northbound and southbound lanes as well as the construction of an access road and two major bridges connecting the casino and highway.

Grand opening festivities are planned for New Year's Eve.
