OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb has been named chairman of the National Lieutenant Governors Association.

The first-term Republican has been serving as the chair-elect of the organization since last year and was formally named chairman Friday while the NLGA is meeting for its annual meeting in Oklahoma City.

Lamb replaces outgoing chair Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts of Rhode Island.

As part of its annual meeting that began Wednesday, more than two dozen lieutenant governors visited Oklahoma and participated in numerous panels, including one on state responses to tornadoes, storms and man-made disasters, like the Connecticut school shooting.

Members also toured some of the tornado damage in Moore and visited the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum.

Oklahoma City last hosted the meeting in 1998.
