OKLAHOMA CITY,OK. (AP) - Oklahoma City police have identified two officers who were involved in a weekend shooting that wounded a man.
Detective John Szymanski and patrol officer Grant Hansen were placed on routine administrative leave following the shooting on Saturday afternoon.
Officials say some men were at a neighborhood park when the officers attempted to determine what they were doing. One of the men, later identified as Demontrail Lavon Smith, ran and the officers chased him on foot and in a patrol car.
As they caught up with Smith, the officers alleged he turned toward them with a handgun. Both officers fired, striking Smith, who remains hospitalized.
