Okla. Speaker: 'Personhood' bill won't get hearing

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - House Speaker Kris Steele says the Republican caucus has decided in a closed-door meeting not to hear a so-called "personhood" bill that would have granted fertilized human eggs the rights and privileges of other Oklahoma citizens.

Steele says House Republicans voted Thursday not to hear the bill amid concerns that it could lead to a ban on certain forms of birth control and in-vitro fertilization. He says concerns also were voiced that passage of the bill could result in another potential legal challenge.

Proponents of the bill maintain the measure wasn't intended to ban abortions or threaten reproductive medicine, but only to send a message that Oklahomans believe life begins at conception.

Several anti-abortion groups are gathering signatures to have a separate personhood measure placed on the November ballot.

There was a time it was a self evident truth that when a woman was pregnant she was, "With Child." To date over 50,000,000 Americans have been killed and as many women injured and mostly for expedience sake. When God is removed from life's equation then death will surely come in. God can and will forgive this abomination but the people must repent and turn to Him.

Didn't your God abort the entire world once? Noah's Flood? And isn't he suppose to do that again one day...by fire? I'd say that would amount to billions dead, and millions of mothers "with child" as well. When this death comes, will you rejoice? The way I see it, isn't life for you guys just a mere transition to your eternal paradise? A test of faith to determine worthiness? Don't all these aborted babies get a free ticket to heaven? Will all the babies, in the womb and toddlers, your God kills in the upcoming Armageddon go to heaven too? What will you do if a big booming voice from the sky asks you to kill your first born son like Abraham? Would you obey and do so? If yes, then you really don't have a sense of morality, of what is right and wrong...just blind obedience. I have a hard time listening to this Christian Moral Self-Righteousness on the subject of Abortion when ultimately you guys would kill your own children ANYWAY if you thought your God was telling you to do so. Oh...and there was a time when it was self-evident the world was flat too. The Church wouldn't let that go either and tried to lock up Galileo for saying so!

They overreached. And now they have to backtrack. Couples discard MANY fertilized eggs in the in-vetro process...genocide if this law were to pass! Face it. Abortion is here to stay. They can't even define a fetus as a person now, the first step in making abortion illegal. You can be sure they will keep this issue alive, however, to feed all the single-issue voters.

I feel I should really clarify myself here, for those that might attempt to lump me into the same category as one of the Gloria Steinem, feminist type pro-choice advocates...I do not support open, unrestrained abortions. I believe that after 8 weeks it is too late to have an abortion. Late-term abortions particularly disturb me. Me and my wife just had the discussion would we abort now if she suddenly got pregnant. Nope. Never. Never have, never will. So we are pro-life in whatever actions WE personally shall take on the subject. But...does life begin at conception and is abortion murder? If yes, then in-vitro fertilization kills 15-20 "people" for every one egg they get to attach. Yet this process allows otherwise sterile couples to have a child! And one almost guaranteed to have a good life because the parents almost certainty have the money to support it! (In-vitro is crazy expensive!) So the wealthy of Oklahoma (likely 90% Republican at LEAST!) painted themselves into a corner...and since it is the rich and affluent that get in-vitro fertilization, you can rest assured it will NEVER become illegal. Hence, abortion, my friends, will ALWAYS be with us..legal to those that seek it.

Well can we at least grant treehood to acorns and chickenhood to eggs?
