OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A state senator from Enid is calling on the governor to stop the transfer of $2 million from the state Department of Agriculture's budget to help fund a youth livestock show.

Republican Sen. Patrick Anderson complained Tuesday that the diversion of taxpayer money to fund the private Oklahoma Youth Expo is inappropriate.

Oklahoma Agriculture Secretary Jim Reese says the $2 million was part of the overall budget agreement and that the money has not yet been appropriated to the expo.

Gov. Mary Fallin's spokesman Alex Weintz says the state has helped fund the expo since 2002 and that the governor intends to honor the funding agreement. Weintz says the show has an estimated $20 million economic impact on the state and doles out more than $1 million in college scholarships.
