PRAGUE, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say an Oklahoma City police officer left paralyzed after trying to break up a bar fight is in critical condition after a crash on Interstate 40.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Officer Chad Peery was in extremely critical condition Monday morning after the Sunday crash near Prague.

Officials say Peery was in a van with his caretaker and four juvenile relatives when the van blew a rear tire, then went off the road and rolled three times.

The Oklahoman reports the children range in age between 13 and 5. Their conditions weren't immediately available. Investigators say only the caretaker was wearing a seat belt.

Peery was left in a wheelchair in 2011 after he was beaten during a bar dispute in which he tried to intervene.
