ALTUS, Okla. (AP) - Authorities investigating the 2001 disappearance of an Altus woman have discovered human remains at an overgrown camp site in Kiowa County.
Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy says investigators were led to the site by Garland Allen, the ex-husband of Tracy Allen. Garland Allen was arrested in Texas last week and is charged with second-degree murder in her death.
Tracy Allen went missing in May 2001.
Searchers found human remains Wednesday. The remains have been sent to the state medical examiner's office for identification and cause of death.
Allen is being held in the Jackson County jail without bond, and court records do not list an attorney. He appeared in court last week without an attorney and has a preliminary hearing conference scheduled for Jan. 13.
