Former Oral Roberts president's DUI case continued

TULSA, OK. (AP) - A hearing in the driving under the influence charge against former Oral Roberts University president Richard Roberts has been delayed.

Court records show that the hearing scheduled for Wednesday in Tulsa County District Court was continued until May 4 and that Roberts will undergo an alcohol assessment.

The 63-year-old Roberts was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and speeding on January 24.

Roberts was stopped on the Creek Turnpike by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper who reported he could smell alcohol on Roberts' breath.

The report said Roberts was unable to "execute the instructions" for sobriety tests and that his blood alcohol content later registered. 0.11. The legal limit is .08.

Students at ORU sign an honor code which pledges," I will not drink alcoholic beverages of any kind."
