DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a 16-year-old boy with murder in the stabbing death of a 14-year-old Duncan girl.
Prosecutors on Wednesday charged the boy with first-degree murder with deliberate intent. Authorities accuse the 16-year-old of using a kitchen knife in Monday's fatal stabbing of Alyssa Wiles.
Duncan Police Chief Dan Ford says the suspect burned the clothes he was wearing at the time of the attack and ran them over with a lawnmower.
School officials say Alyssa just finished the eighth grade at Duncan Middle School. A prayer vigil and candlelight memorial service is planned for Thursday night at the Duncan High School baseball field.
The death comes about a year after 16-year-old Braylee Henry was found dead near Velma. A convenience store clerk faces first-degree murder charges in her death.
