CALUMET, Okla. (AP) - Canadian County prosecutors say they've charged a Tulsa man in last month's deaths of a Calumet woman and her young son.
Amy Gibbins and her son Bryor were found June 16 in a burned home. Prosecutors say 30-year-old Derek Don Posey was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree murder and is being held in the Canadian County jail pending a court hearing.
Investigators said Gibbins, who was 22, had been struck in the head and that Posey burned her home. Court documents allege her 5-year-old son was in the house, too, and died in the fire.
Calumet Police Chief Brian Huckabee said Posey had been working in the oil fields near Calumet at the time of the deaths.
Online court documents do not list an attorney for Posey.
