OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Democratic Senator Tom Adelson of Tulsa says he won't seek a final four-year term in office.

Adelson announced Thursday that he wouldn't run again after his District 33 in Tulsa's midtown area was moved to south Tulsa and Broken Arrow as part of redistricting. Adelson had been mulling a run against Republican incumbent Sen. Brian Crain, but apparently decided against it.

A practicing attorney, Adelson also is a partner in an oil and gas business. First elected in 2004, Adelson was a frequent critic of tax breaks handed out to energy producers and has opposed efforts to reduce the state's income tax.

Senate Democratic leader Sean Burrage called Adelson a "tireless advocate for greater access to health care."

The filing period for state House and Senate seats ends Friday.
