OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A Democrat running for Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District says he'll deliver about 500 petitions to Republican U.S. Rep. James Lankford's Oklahoma City office, urging him to support increasing the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour.

Tom Guild is one of several candidates running for the seat being vacated by Lankford as Lankford pursues U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn's seat.

Guild planned to deliver the petitions to Lankford's office Wednesday. Other candidates are delivering similar petitions this week to lawmakers across the country.

The petitions say the increased wages would "put money directly into the pockets of hard working Americans and increase economic growth by increasing demand."

Kelly Ferguson, a spokeswoman for Lankford, says no one had come by the Oklahoma City office yet Wednesday.
