PARIS, TX-- The Salvation Army handed out boxes of gifts Thursday for its annual Angel Tree Christmas Gift Program.
This year the Salvation Army teamed up with Toys for Tots to help almost 900 angels have a gift under the tree this holiday season.
They were able to hand out over 1,800 gifts to families in need.
Lieutenant Michelle Hutchinson says they started this program from the ground up, and they couldn't have done it without the volunteers.
"We've had approximately 100 different volunteers," said Hutchinson. "Prairiland High School's Beta club the FLA and the FCCLA clubs have been phenomenal over the past two weeks getting everything prepped and they've also been here today to help with distribution."
For the families who filled out forms this year and were not able to make it Thursday, the Salvation Army will be handing out boxes again on Friday from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M.
