LAMAR COUNTY, TX-- The Chicota Volunteer Fire Department received a check Wednesday night for their new fire truck.
The Texas Forestry Service presented a $200,000 check to volunteer chief Caleb Brewer. The department received the tanker last Thursday through a grant, but have not been able to use it until it passed inspection by the Texas Forestry Service.
The tanker is custom made and will benefit Chicota and the surrounding communities.
"It's just going to be a blessing to the community, said Brewer. "We can respond and get there and help out and do whatever the community needs us to do."
The tanker holds 3,000 gallons of water.
Chicota Volunteer Fire Department paid the remaining $25,000 for the truck.
