PARIS, TX-- A council committee spoke at Monday's city council meeting on a growing problem in Paris, drug use and trafficking.
The committee, that includes city and school officials as well as law enforcement, was formed to find ways to decrease drug abuse.
The group says they are moving as fast as they can to find a solution and are looking at what other cities in the area do. Paris Police Chief, Bob Hundley, says their focus is prevention.
"We're looking at trying to get back a squad of detectives that are going to basically be narcotics only," said Hundley.
Chief Hundley says they are planning to meet with Drug Free Greenville to learn more about their not for profit and how Paris will benefit having a similar program.
