Fire chief recommends reopenning fire station

PARIS, TX -- Paris' Fire Chief is hoping to expand on the city's fire services by reopening a fire station on the East side of town.

The station on Pine Mill Road now serves as an EMS station, but previously served as a fire and EMS station until it was closed in 2008 due to budget constraints.

Chief Wright says opening the fire station would cut down on response times on the East side.

"We strive for about a four minute response times, as an average," said Wright. "The response time to that part of town to the station we respond out of is about eight to ten minutes, depending on where it is."

Chief Wright says the city would have to employee twelve new firefighters and purchase a fire truck in order to reopen the station.
