PARIS, TX-- The former Paris ISD teacher's aide, who pleaded guilty Friday to improper relations between an educator and a student, will not serve any jail time.
The Lamar County District Clerk's Office says, 41 year old Beth Merritt received a four year deferred sentence, and was ordered to pay a $500 fine.
Merritt showed up to a student's home intoxicated in May. She was fired when we first told you about this investigation in June.
If Merritt completes probation successfully, the conviction won't stick on her record. If she violates probation, she'll serve the remainder of her sentence in prison.
