LAMAR COUNTY, TX-- A donation of 1,000 trees from a Texarkana extension agent will soon help beautify Paris and Lamar County.
Starting at 9 A.M. Saturday residents can pick up the free trees at the west parking lot of the Methodist Church at 322 Lamar Ave in Paris.
Keep Paris Beautiful Treasurer Edwin Pickle says each household can get three trees. There will be 8-10 different hardwood trees from red and live oak to pecan and dogwood for residents to choose from.
"Obviously we lost a lot as a result of the ice storm in December," said Edwin Pickle. "So this just seemed like something perfect for us to do."
Edwin says they will distribute trees until they run out. If there are any left at the end of the day, he says they will donate them to the city of Paris.
