Paris church to help beautify downtown

PARIS, TX -- A local church is looking to help beautify downtown by making a change to a parking lot.

The First United Methodist Church, in downtown Paris, announced its plans to vacate 40 parking spaces to add trees, a trail, a splash pad and musical playground to the parking lot just west of the church.

Reverend Rob Spencer revealed an initial rendering of their plans for the lot during Monday's city council meeting. The church hopes to start raising funds for the project this spring and start construction by the summer.
