PARIS, TX-- A memorial service, honoring fallen officers, is being held in Paris Thursday.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation, designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day. The date falls during National Police Week.
A public memorial service is being held right here in Paris at 6:30 P.M. at East Paris Baptist Church, and the community is encouraged to come out.
A color guard, made up with officers from local agencies, will post the colors, and a list of the local fallen officers will be read. District Attorney Gary Young will speak at the event.
