DALLAS (AP) - Parts of North Texas are cleaning up today after a sixth day of heavy rain in a row.
Up to 9 inches of rain fell in Collin County, just north of Dallas, and forced postponement of a homecoming parade planned for Saturday in Parker for Olympic gold medal gymnast Nastia Liukin (LOO'-kihn).
The National Weather Service says several towns in North Texas received 3 to 4 inches of rain with the latest round of storms.
Fairview, about 3 miles south of McKinney, received about 8 inches of rain. McKinney and Allen reported 3 to 4 inches.
Fairview police say floodwaters weakened the supports of an asphalt bridge over Sloan Creek, making it unsafe. But they say no streets nearby flooded.
