Texas gas prices skyrocket because of Ike

IRVING, Texas (AP) - Gasoline prices skyrocketed over the weekend in Texas and nationwide because of Hurricane Ike.

The auto club AAA reported Monday that gasoline was averaging $3.84 per gallon Monday, up about 13 cents from Friday. That's almost a 4 percent increase in three days.

Nationally, the average rose a dime to $3.84 per gallon.

Texarkana had the highest price Monday at $3.81, up 23 cents from Friday.

Yeah Dookey, except that there's the problem of all the morons who think ANY price increase on ANYTHING at ANY time is gouging...

Just heard on the news you can call 1-800-252-8011 to report any kind of price gouging, from gas to bread. I think it's the AG's office.

C.B- how can you say we ask for it? Are you delusional? Who in the world would ask to have higher gas prices and as for the President not having any control that's bullsh*t! Bush is an oil man. Have you ever heard the old expression- you scratch my back i'll scratch yours.

I too believe they should wait till the next load comes in, but they are going to do whatever they want no matter what we say or do because we all need it in order to survive. In regards to the comment about Bush/Chaney/Mcain/Palin. No matter who is in office it won't change because our president is just a figure head. (MONKEY)Presidents and V.Presidents don't make the laws. You need to look at who is in our House and Senate it has nothing to do with the Pres or the VP, but I guess if I were a Democrat and had to admit that my party voted in someone like Barrak Obama I would try to blame everything on the Republicans as well. Wake up America!!!! There is no one to blame but ourselves, take on some responsibility for a change!!! You asked for bigger vehicles, you got the gas guzzlers.

JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW LAST WEEK I REPAIRED A VEHICLE THAT HAD BEEN SITTING FOR A YEAR WITH LAST YEARS FUEL IN IT AND NO STABILIZER, THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP WITH THAT YEAR OLD GAS IN IT, IT MADE IT TO THE GAS STATION FOR FRESH FUEL, I HAD ANOTHER PICKUP THAT HAD BEEN SITTING FOR ONLY A MONTH AND THE FUEL HAD SOURED, WOULDN'T EVEN START WITHOUT DRAINING THE TANK AND PUTTING FRESH FUEL IN. FYI

I AM A MECHANIC AND I HAVE NOTICED THE QUALITY OF ALL FUELS HAS DECLINED SINCE THIS TIME LAST YEAR AND SINCE THEY PUT 10% ETHANOL IN IT, ALSO POEPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT LOWER MILEAGE DUE TO THE ETHANOL, THE ENGINES HAVE TO WORK HARDER TO BURN THE FUEL, ALSO I HAVE BEEN REPLACEING NORE FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS THIS YEAR AND SOME PARTS THAT NEVER USED TO FAIL BEFORE SUCH AS FUEL FILTER DRAIN VALVES. THE OIL COMPANIES ARE NOT ONLY OVERCHARGING THEIR CUSTOMERS BUT DROPPING THE FUEL QUALITY. BUY THE WAY, THE GASOLINE WE ARE GETTING DOES NOT LAST AS LONG AS IT DID SO IF YOU HAVE TO STORE FUEL FOR MORE THAN 15 DAYS YOU NEED TO PUT A STABILIZER IN IT. AND PLEASE DON'T BUY FUEL THAT COMES FROM THE SAUDIES, BUY FROM UNITED STATES COMPANIES ONLY, YOU CAN GO TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY WEBSITE TO FIND OUT WHERE AN OIL COMPANY BUYS IT'S CRUDE.

Why do they do this? Because they can! We should start a revolution and rise up against the greedy oil b@$8@4ds! But as long as the demand is there, they have us by the short hairs. I ride my motorcycle when I can. If I lived closer to work, I'd drive my golfcart. Did you know golf carts are legal on Texas roadways as long as they are registered and have a slow moving vehicle placard? I can ride mine forever on 5 gallons of overpriced gasoline. Come on people, get imaginitive! Maybe folks should start riding horses around cities and fill the streets with manure. It's better for the conservation of the planet, I'm sure.

You know what is funny, well I'm not sure funny is the word for it. But remember when 9/11 first happened and gas prices started going up? I remember when we thought it was going to be a big deal for gas to reach $2.00 a gallon. What the oil men and the government (because I think that Bush had a lot to do with this) has done is condition us. Now we would love to see gas at two dollars a gallon we would be talking about how greatful we are and they would be laughing behind our backs saying WHAT FOOLS!
