WASHINGTON (AP) - Six Army brigades, a National Guard unit, and three military headquarters have been ordered to deploy to Iraq next summer.
The units to be deployed include the Fort Hood-based 1st Cavalry Division headquarters and the 4th Brigade, 1st Armored Division, from Fort Bliss.
The move that would allow the United States to keep the number of troops largely steady there through much of next year.
Other units to be deployed are:
-1st Corps headquarters, Fort Lewis, Washington.
-2nd Marine Expeditionary Force headquarters, Camp Lejeune,
-4th Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North
-5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis,
-1st Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North
-3rd Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis,
-4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.
