BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - A fire that heavily damaged a Southeast Texas house has left three firefighters and the homeowner hurt.
Beaumont Fire Department officials say the homeowner's wife escaped unharmed early Thursday but several pets died in the blaze.
Authorities say the homeowner was burned trying to put out the fire and he was treated at the scene.
Officials say one firefighter suffered a knee injury and another had a heat-related injury. Both were treated and released from a Beaumont hospital. Authorities say the third firefighter has a puncture wound and was treated at the scene.
Investigators say the fire apparently was caused by an electrical short.
