HOUSTON (AP) - Houston Fire Department officials say three firefighters remain hospitalized after a blaze at a motel left four of their colleagues dead.
Fire officials have scheduled a media briefing for Monday afternoon. The four fatalities on Friday made it the deadliest day in the 118-year history of the department.
The agency says it's working with a Houston-based non-profit organization, the 100 Club, to handle monetary donations for the relatives of the firefighters killed in the fire at the Southwest Inn. The 60-year-old organization says 100 percent of donations to its "Survivors Fund" go to families of firefighters and law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
Tentative plans call for a memorial service for the four later this week.
