2 teens, man killed in head-on collision in North Texas

ELECTRA, Texas (AP) - Two Electra High School students and a man died and two other people were hurt in a head-on crash on a narrow rural road.

Authorities say the accident killed 16-year-old Courtney Mengwasser and 18-year-old Adreanna Norrid.

The Department of Public Safety say a car the teens were riding in collided Tuesday night with a pickup traveling in their lane.

Their driver, Electra student 18-year-old Alyssa Willeford, was critically injured and taken to a hospital in Wichita Falls.

The other driver, 40-year-old Michael Nason of Electra, was killed.

DPS says his passenger, 41-year-old Monte Grounds of Bowlegs, Okla., was taken to a Wichita Falls hospital with minor injuries.

Friend say Willeford had just finished band practice and had picked up her friends at the restaurant where they worked to give them a ride home.
