Teacher accused of sending obscene texts to male students

FORT STOCKTON, Texas (AP) - A now-former teacher in West Texas is accused of sending pornographic images in text messages to some of her male students.

Twenty-six-year-old Jaime Katheryn Steen was freed today on $4,000 bond -- two days after she turned herself in to authorities.

The first-year teacher worked Fort Stockton High School. She resigned Oct. 22.

Officials at Tom Green County Jail said records did not show whether she had an attorney.

A phone listing for Katheryn Steen in Marfa was nonpublished.

Fort Stockton police say the investigation began after school officials started looking into allegations that Steen recently bought beer for five teenage boys.

Steen is charged with selling, distributing or displaying harmful material to a minor, a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by 180 days to a year in jail.
