BOERNE, Texas (AP) - Kendall County authorities say 36-year-old James J. Lamy has been identified as the man whose headless body was found near the Guadalupe River.
On Saturday a fisherman found Lamy -- who was from Converse -- in some brush near Farm to Market Road 474 between Boerne and Kendalia.
The San Antonio Express-News reports Chief Deputy Matt King says an autopsy showed Lamy was shot in the back and chest and that his body was mutilated after his death.
His head and hands were missing.
King said witnesses saw Lamy alive as recently as noon Saturday.
Records show the dead man was awaiting court appearances on charges of vehicle theft and evading arrest, failure to stop and give information, possession of criminal instrument, records show.
