Parades, flags help mark Veterans Day in Texas

DALLAS (AP) - American flags of all sizes were featured in parades across Texas to mark Veterans Day.

Ceremonies were held Tuesday in front of Houston City Hall. A parade through downtown Houston also paid tribute to the nation's armed forces.

Several hundred people turned out for a Veterans Day program at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial in Amarillo.

Part of Congress Avenue in Austin was closed as thousands of people were on hand for a Veterans Day parade.

Marching bands were included in the Veterans Day parade in Waco.
A parade in Dallas drew thousands to the downtown area. A parade in Fort Worth also saluted those who have served or are in the military.

Patriotic music was part of the ceremony at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
