Dallas Cowboy Spencer arrested in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Spencer was arrested after a disturbance outside an Indianapolis bar after allegedly refusing to leave.

Police say Spencer early yesterday was arrested on preliminary charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

The 24-year-old Spencer, who's from Fort Wayne, Ind., was arrested near the Have a Nice Day Cafe.

The police report says a bouncer says Spencer offered to pay for the bar to stay open past 3 a.m. -- the closing time set by Indiana law -- and after being told no, he tried to punch the bouncer.

Spencer was later released without bond. He faces a court appearance Thursday.

Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple says the team is aware of the incident and is trying to get as much information as possible.

Dalrymple declined further comment.

A call to Spencer's agent wasn't immediately returned.

Spencer was the Cowboy's first round draft pick in 2007.
