LAIRD HILL, Texas (AP) - A 31-year-old man has been arrested as a suspect in a double shooting near a rural East Texas church that left a man dead and a woman hospitalized.
The shootings happened at a mobile home next to the Gospel Lighhouse Church in the Rusk County community of Laird Hill.
No identities have been released for the victims. But a late-night 30-mile police chase from Ore City to Marshall ended with the arrest just before midnight Thursday of a 31-year-old Tyler man.
Rusk County sheriff's deputies haven't said yet whether charges have been filed.
Investigators are seeking a motive in the attack in Laird Hill, a community of about 300 residents about 25 miles east of Tyler and about 120 miles southeast of Dallas.
