WESLACO, Texas (AP) - A South Texas state trooper is on suspension after he was charged with bribery, evidence tampring and tampering with a government document.
Trooper Juan Martin Ramon Jr. is assigned to the Weslaco office of the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was charged Friday for allegedly taking a $500 bribe, tampering with physical evidence from a criminal investigatino and preparing a false report.
The 27-year-old trooper is free on a $15,000 bond after he was booked Friday into the Hidalgo County Jail in Edinburg.
DPS spokeswoman Lisa Block isn't releasing details of its investigation.
