HOUSTON (AP) - A Houston man who allegedly thought demons invaded his home and family is jailed on charges he beat his 3-year-old son.
Jacky Tran was held on $100,000 bond on felony injury to a child charges after he allegedly tried to rid the boy of evil spirits.
A jail official had no information on an attorney for the 35-year-old Tran.
A relative, Thuba To, told the Houston Chronicle that Tran believes he is an "angel" sent by God.
Tran was arrested after officers Saturday night responded to a security alarm. A police report indicates officers saw Tran swinging something, possibly the boy.
The child, whose name was not released, was transported to a Houston hospital for treatment of skull fractures and was expected to survive.
The Chronicle reports Tran told relatives last night, who visited him in jail, that he was just knocking the demon out of the boy.
