EDINBURG, Texas (AP) - A deputy with the Hidalgo County sheriff's department and a motorist he was chasing were injured after their vehicles collided.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating yesterday afternoon's crash.
Trooper Johnny Hernandez told The Monitor of McAllen that the driver of the car being pursued by the deputy suffered a collapsed lung. Hernandez says the driver was in intensive care at a McAllen hospital and the deputy was treated and released.
The vehicles collided east of Edinburg.
