AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - About 300 University of Texas students marched to the state Capitol to protest a bill that would allow concealed firearms on college campuses.
Thursday's rally was staged on the second anniversary of the shootings at Virginia Tech University, where a gunman killed 32 students and professors before killing himself.
The bill has already passed a House committee. Supporters say it bolsters the constitutional right to bear arms and could help prevent shootings on the scale of what happened at Virginia Tech.
Opponents say allowing guns will make campuses less safe.
