2nd Tenaha student struck waiting for bus dies

TENAHA, Texas (AP) - Another child has died of injuries after a pickup truck hit him and two other East Texas children waiting for a school bus.

LSU Health Sciences Center officials in Shreveport, La., say 4-year-old Nathan Cooks of Tenaha died about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Seven-year-old JaLyric (juh-LIH'-rihk) Boykin died after the early Tuesday accident on U.S. 84 in Tenaha. Meanwhile, 14-year-old Danielle Cook was in critical condition at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler late Tuesday. A call to the hospital Wednesday for an update hasn't been returned.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports the truck driver, Eloy David Lara of Palestine (PAL'-uh-steen), wasn't hurt. It says he swerved to avoid two vehicles that had stopped for the bus when he struck the children.
