BELLAIRE, Texas (AP) - Police say a would-be thief died by his own hand after officers thwarted the attempted closing-time heist of a Houston-area drugstore.
The incident happened about midnight Sunday at a CVS Pharmacy at
Bissonnet and Chimney Rock in Bellaire.
Bellaire police Lt. Michael Leal says a customer managed to call 911 with his cell phone to alert police to the holdup attempt. Police surrounded the store and ordered the two gunmen inside to give up. One did, but Leal says the other shot himself fatally instead.
Leal says the getaway driver also was taken into custody.
