PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Jail officials are taking extra precautions with an ex-soldier convicted of rape and murder in Iraq after he caused a commotion in his jail cell.
Steven D. Green was convicted Thursday in a fatal attack on an Iraqi family, and jurors are hearing evidence this week about whether to sentence him to death.
Green became upset Saturday and threw a lunch tray when he wanted to shave but didn't have a razor. The incident was first reported by The Paducah Sun on Wednesday.
Chief Deputy Greg Garrison says after Green was cuffed and moved
to another cell, he kicked glass out of a door.
Green is not facing any additional charges, but jailers are now shackling his feet whenever he is moved.
