HOUSTON (AP) - A 12-year-old boy accused of killing a 10-month-old baby by throwing him to the floor has been released from juvenile detention and into the custody of a relative.
The boy, who will live with an aunt, will be supervised 24 hours a day, including when he is at school.
Associate Judge Beverly Malazzo ordered the boy's release until his trial during a court hearing Tuesday.
Officials say the 12-year-old was left alone on March 12 at a Houston home with a group of younger children by his mother and the mom of the other kids. The other children said they saw the boy throw the baby, Deandre Washington, on the floor. Deandre died two days later at a hospital.
